February 2006
The Prez Sez ...

Hi, Everyone,

Our first KAS meeting for 2006 got us off to a great start with a still life demo by Carlene Reeves. It’s always such a pleasure to watch someone who is completely sure of their craft put the paint on the canvas. And so it was with Ms. Reeves as she produced a gorgeous floral still-life from her own setup. Her workshop the following day , which was held at Rosemont, gave us the opportunity to try her methods ourselves. It was well-attended and a most enjoyable day, thanks to Pat Wheeler who organized the event and provided snacks and drinks to add to the pleasure!

Our February meeting will vary from the usual format as, instead of a demo artist, we will have two guest speakers. One will explain how to photograph your artwork and the other, a legal expert, will discuss some aspects of copyright. I’m sure we’ll have plenty of questions for them so come along and bring a notebook!

There will be a board meeting this month which I would like to hold at Hunan Gardens at 11:00am on February, 13th. I will check with Board members to see if this will suit everyone.

Remember that the KAS show and competition is just around the corner on the 1 st of April so be sure to work on your masterpieces so that they’ll be ready in plenty of time to enter.

In the meantime, keep enjoying this amazing non-winter weather we’ve been having! Does this mean summer will start in April?

Hope to see you all soon,

Your Prez,
Linda Hamilton.
