Hello, fellow artists,
Welcome to a 2007 that arrived so quickly it was probably a surprise to most of us… It also represents a new beginning in which we might resolve to give up bad habits, lose some weight, support charities, or make many other changes. This year, I want to do more art. I have regular days to go to my studio, but find that I allow dinky little things to get in the way, and wind up taking a lot less art time than I want to. This year, I resolve to tell myself and others that I have a class every Tuesday and Thursday. (Tuesday I do have an outside class.) Thursday, my class will be with myself. I'll go to my studio, and if I don't have a plan in mind, I'll just paint some paper or throw some random shapes. I firmly resolve to adhere to the adage that discipline is more important than talent. Happy Art-Filled New Year!

| Crosby Church in Crosby is having a community artshow and talent day and I would like to take time to invite all LSAG artists to participate. It is a fun day Sat. Feb, 24th ( 9AM- 5PM) 2007. There will be music, theatre, crafts ( in separate room from fine art), fine art and literature. It will be set in Tom Sawyer era. All artwork must be family friendly.
This is a showcase not a competition. Artists may place a price and info on each piece and buyer will be directed to them. This is a day to celebrate Talent, not geared to sell artwork, but does not exclude the selling of pieces if done by the artist. It is an opportunity for artist to use their talents.
Sincerely
Connie D. Houser

| KINGWOOD ART SOCIETY- GENERAL MEETING MINUTES --December 11, 2006
President Linda Dumas called the meeting to order at 7:00 PM. Kingwood Art Society hosted their Christmas general meeting at the Homewood Suites. The meeting was well attended. After a welcome and blessing, members and guests enjoyed a pot luck and fellowship dinner.
Following dinner, Mari O’Mauri from Kingwood College introduced Fernell Jimenez-Pabon. Linda D. presented Fernell with the Paul McCarty KAS Scholarship.
Fernell who is Columbian is studying Art at KW College, and also works in their Art Gallery. He showed examples of his artwork, and shared his goals and aspirations for the future. Fernell hopes ultimately to be an art professor.
A brief business meeting followed the presentation.
Debra Latham brought samples of wooden art easels which were made by her father.
Linda clarified the rules regarding which paintings are eligible for entry into LSAG. Carol Showalter invited members to view the showcase at the Atascocita Library. Linda Dumas will be presenting her pottery in the case during the month of December. Five members presented artwork for “Show and Tell”. A sharing time also included information about new art books and magazines on the market. The meeting was dismissed. Respectfully Submitted,
Sheila Bridges,
Secretary
